Risks associated with alcohol and/or other psychotropic substances for operators of self-propelled vehicles: training and health surveillance
OCCUPATIONAL HEALT AND SAFETY
SEMINARY
REFRESHER HOURS 81/08
WEDNESDAY 16 SEPTEMBER 2026
15:45 - 17:45
INAIL SEMINAR ROOM
PAV. A – LANE A1
Edited by:
INAIL
The consumption of alcohol and/or other narcotic or psychotropic substances in the workplace constitutes a significant risk factor, linked to the impairment of the physical and mental well-being of the workers who use them. The consequences can range from an increased likelihood of accidents or injuries—particularly in activities involving high risk to the safety, physical integrity, or health of the individual or others—to harm caused to third parties.
For workers who operate self-propelled vehicles, workplace safety regulations mandate compulsory health surveillance involving alcohol and drug testing, carried out by the Designated Physician in accordance with Legislative Decree 81/2008 (and subsequent amendments).
Given the complexity of the issue, in addition to adhering to specific health surveillance protocols, it is essential to raise awareness regarding the risks associated with the use of psychotropic substances and their effects, including through information and training initiatives.
The seminar will address these risks and the corresponding preventive measures.
