The Boundaries of Security
Construction site transitions and machine revamping: between technical assessments and responsibilities
OCCUPATIONAL HEALT AND SAFETY
CONFERENCE
REFRESHER HOURS 81/08
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING CREDITS
WEDNESDAY 16 SEPTEMBER 2026
10:00 - 13:00
CONFERENCE ROOM B
PAV. A – LANE A1
Edited by:
Ordine Ingegneri della Provincia di Bergamo
There are workplace safety issues where the boundaries are not clearly defined, and where the challenge lies not merely in applying a rule, but in correctly interpreting evolving situations.
The conference examines two such critical areas: on the one hand, the transition phase involving the construction site, finishing work, the early installation of machinery and systems, ancillary works, and the start-up or continuation of operations—a phase that often gives rise to a “grey area” characterized by residual interference, the simultaneous presence of different activities, and responsibilities that are not always immediately apparent; on the other, the revamping of existing machinery and systems, a field requiring an assessment of the actual state of equipment, an evaluation of modifications and risks, and a clear understanding of the distinctions between upgrading, modification, transformation, and recertification.
Through real-world case studies, dialogue among professionals, and a broad perspective on the value of safety communication, the conference aims to provide analytical frameworks and an opportunity for discernment regarding issues that demand attention, discussion, sound judgment, and a sense of responsibility.
