Today, safety can no longer be limited to procedures, standards, or the sole analysis of incidents. To evolve, it is necessary to understand how people actually operate in the field and which factors—organizational, cultural, and contextual—influence their daily decisions. In an increasingly technological and regulated context, what can be defined as a safety paradox emerges: the human element, often considered a source of error, is actually the only one capable of managing the unexpected and making sense of operational uncertainty. Behavior analysis therefore represents one of the main drivers of the development of prevention systems, because it allows us to place the human factor at the center of safety, opening new perspectives on risk, reliability, and operational performance. The workshop explores this approach, showing how structured observation of real-world work, interpreted in conjunction with the organizational and cultural context, allows us to intercept weak signals, strengthen safety barriers, and intervene before an event occurs. This contribution offers a modern vision of security, in which behavior is not the problem to be fixed, but an essential key to improving the system as a whole.
